The library system has branch locations in Dresden, Duncan Falls/Philo, New Concord, Roseville, and South Zanesville. All MCLS locations have free wifi inside the library and in our parking lots and green spaces. Each library location also has public computers, scanners, and printers.
The John McIntire Library is the main location for the Muskingum County Library System (MCLS). The John McIntire Library boasts a beautiful Carnegie Building with restored stained glass skylights and hosts art exhibits year-round. In addition, the main library includes an auditorium that seats 198 and meeting rooms available for public use.
Library patrons may borrow books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, video games, ebooks, and various enriching and entertaining materials free of charge with a valid library card. Past local newspaper issues are available on microfilm, and The Family History Center (Geneology Library) is on the second level of the library. The library collection includes information on Zanesville and Muskingum County’s rich history, the Y Bridge, the area’s pottery heritage, Zane Grey, and writings by local historian Norris Schneider.
Location: The John McIntire Library is located at 220 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, OH; across the street from the Zanesville/Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center directly off Exit 154 going east on I-70 at the corner of Fifth and Shinnick Street. Free parking is available in the library parking lots off Shinnick Street and Sixth Street. This library also features electric vehicle charging stations.
