Timber Run Gardens was established in 1973. The Vision of Steve Carter, founder and owner, was to bring quality landscape design and plantings plus the first professional horticulture landscape garden center to the greater Zanesville area. The year 1974 marked the initiation of the garden center on the current 2.5-acre setting located on U.S. Rt. 40, just west of Zanesville. A separate 8-acre production center was purchased in the 1980’s and extended with additional growing capabilities in the 1990’s. The large greenhouse that is connected to the retail store was originally part of the 1920’s Wyandt vegetable gardens in Newark, Ohio. It was completely disassembled there and reassembled here after cleaning and a fresh coat of paint, for display area equipped to maintain live flora. Now with over 20 acres of production facility, Timber Run Gardens has the largest selection of varying types of plants anywhere in Southeastern Ohio.
