ZANESVILLE MUSEUM OF ART OPENS NATIONAL WATERCOLOR SOCIETY TRAVELING EXHIBITION
The National Watercolor Society Annual Traveling Exhibition returned to Zanesville this summer. The exhibition features 28 selected paintings from the National Watercolor Society 89th Annual Exhibition at the City of Brea Gallery in California. More than 1,100 artists, from all 50 states and several foreign countries, competed for entry. Out of the 100 selected for the California show, jurors chose the paintings to be displayed at the Zanesville Museum of Art. These include the Silver Star Best of Show Award (Geoffrey McCormack’s Red Twig) and 28 other award-winning paintings. Works in the exhibition include scenic landscapes, portraits, shadow studies, and abstracts.
Also included in the Zanesville venue are two paintings by Ohioans that were included in the California show but were not available for the national tour. These are Young Man D’apres Matrix by Linda Hutchinson, Akron, and Looking In by Gail Peters, Mentor.
